Dr. Bougary comes to Al Jalila Children’s Hospital with a good deal of experience in caring and advocating for children, adolescents and their families. She started her professional journey in King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as a nursing student. She then transitioned to medical school after some deliberation and consideration. After completing her medical education and internship, she went on to a surgical residency. Dr. Bougary completed 15 months in her residency rotating through general, orthopedic, plastic and neurosurgery before traveling to the United States. Starting her adventure in the US, she studied for and passed the US boards in order to get into a residency. Having the opportunity to choose her new career, she went into psychiatry then subspecialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. During her training Dr. Bougary was very active in local and regional chapters of the American Psychiatric Association.
After successfully completing her fellowship, Dr. Bougary went on to explore opportunities for change in the mental health community. She worked in Saudi Arabia in the private and public sector in addition to volunteer work. Dr. Bougary revamped the Child and Adolescent Clinic in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She was part of the child protection committee there and took on challenging cases. Dr. Bougary worked in Saudi Arabia for some time before transitioning to Al Jalila Children’s Hospital here in Dubai, UAE. Finding her stride at al Jalila Dr. Bougary has made significant contributions to the advancement of the MHCE and the Hospital as a whole.
Dr. Bougary has a long history of mentoring and teaching trainees starting in her residency and following through with her fellowships and post graduate positions. Dr. Bougary has worked with and continues to work with medical students, residents and fellow.
Dr. Bougary is an active member of several clinical peer review groups online. Dr. Bougary has presented and continues to present lectures, grand rounds, symposiums and workshops nationally and internationally.
Dr. Bougary continues her advocacy work here in Dubai as the hub for international change. She is a firm believer in the patient centered evidence based multidisciplinary model of care.
