Dr. Meshal Sultan is Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Al Jalila Children’s. He is Canadian Royal College certified in the speciality of psychiatry and in the subspeciality of child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Sultan completed his psychiatry residency training and child psychiatry subspeciality fellowship at University of Ottawa, Canada. During his subspeciality fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Dr. Sultan worked with patients with complex mental health conditions using evidence-based strategies that combined medication and psychotherapy. He worked in a multidisciplinary team setting and actively engaged in leadership roles as well as medical students’ teaching activities. He has a special interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, and presented in international conferences.
He has received several awards for recognition of his contributions, for instance the Simon Davidson Award for Scholarly Activity, and the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine Excellence in Clinical Supervision Award.
He is a member of various professional organizations, which include the Emirates Society for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU).
