Biography

Dr. Nakao is the Head of the Heart Centre of Excellence at Al Jalila Children’s. He completed his cardiothoracic surgical training in Singapore and was awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS-CTh) in 2010. He is also a Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon (Japan) since 2010. He continued his paediatric cardiothoracic surgical training in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, after having worked as a junior paediatric cardiothoracic surgery consultant. Dr. Nakao practised as a consultant in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, prior to joining Al Jalila Children’s. 

Dr. Nakao has a keen interest in research involving flow dynamics and 3D printing. He organized and chaired the international educational course for cardiac morphology in 2016 together with University College London. He has been giving lectures and presentations in international and regional meetings as well as universities in Singapore. His main focus is to develop new standards of treatment for children with congenital heart diseases not only in Dubai, but across the GCC.
