Dr. Mohamad Bitar is a Consultant in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Al Jalila Children’s. He is fellowship trained in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the Children’s National Medical Center and the George Washington University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. Dr. Bitar is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine and a member of several international specialty societies, including the American Society of Paediatric Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Paediatrics.Dr. Bitar established the Paediatric Otolaryngology discipline at the American University of Beirut – Medical Center, which he led from 2002 to 2013. He then joined the staff of the Department of ENT Surgery at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, Australia form 2013 to 2014. He was a member of several university/medical board committees for improvement of teaching and medical services at AUB. As an Assistant and then Associate Professor, Dr. Bitar was involved in teaching and research in the field of Paediatric Otolaryngology and has published more than 40 articles pertinent to his field. He has also participated in many national, regional and international meetings and workshops. He is an active reviewer of several prestigious medical journals and a member of the editorial board of specialty journals.Dr. Bitar is currently an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the American University of Beirut. His expertise and interest include medical and surgical management of: hearing loss (including cochlear implantation), chronic ear diseases, paediatric airway surgery (endoscopic & open), benign neck masses, sinus disorders, microtia and prominent ears; in addition to general Paediatric Otolaryngology disorders.

Dr. Zeinab Alloub is a Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician at Al Jalila Children’s. She graduated from Ain Shams University, Cairo and completed paediatric postgraduate training and specialisation in the United Kingdom. With a career spanning over 18 years, she has vast experience in the assessment and management of children with a wide range of developmental, learning and behavioural difficulties. Her approach is holistic - looking at both the medical and psychosocial aspects of the child and family wellbeing. She adopts a family centred approach and empowers parents in the care of their children. Dr Alloub conducts evidence based assessments within a multidisciplinary model of service delivery. Conditions managed include : Autism Spectrum Disorder through a specifically dedicated Autism Programme, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioural sleep disturbances , behaviour problems in early childhood, such as tantrums and oppositional behaviours, developmental and behavioural consequences of prematurity, global developmental delay, habit disorders and developmental aspects of genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome.Dr. Alloub has presented at numerous international and national conferences as an expert in her field and plays an important role in Resident education. She is an avid advocate for children with special needs and their families. Beyond the hospital setting, her service extends into the community through active involvement in parent support groups and voluntary organisations. She is also keen in raising awareness within the health and public sectors.

Dr. Diego A. Preciado is a Joseph E. Robert Jr Endowed Professor in Paediatric Otolaryngology, Vice-Chief and Fellowship Program Director of Div. of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's National Health System, and Professor (with tenure) of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Genomics and Precision Medicine at George Washington University. He has been the Co-Director of the Cochlear Implant Team in the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children’s National Medical Center since 2007.

Dr. Habib Abdullah is a US trained and licensed Paediatric Clinical Psychologist at Al Jalila Children’s. He completed his undergraduate at the State University of New York and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Habib completed his clinical training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in their Oncology department and ran various groups as well as provided individual and family based interventions. He completed his internship in paediatric psychology in Northwestern Physician Group in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to joining Al Jalila Children’s, Dr. Habib completed a Fellowship in paediatric psychology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, working in various medical clinics including sleep, cardiology, obesity, diabetes, audiology, burn, pain management, headache, cystic fibrosis, high risk new born, gastrointestinal, bariatric surgery evaluations and inpatient consultation & liaison (CL) services. He has also worked in community mental health clinics as well as school counselling. Additionally, Dr. Habib has done research in paediatric pain and stigma against mental health. Dr. Habib has a special interest in working with pain management, sleep disorders, inpatient CL services as well as working with comorbid medical and mental health diagnoses. Dr. Habib is also the board member of the International Committee for Pediatric Psychologists.

Dr. Deena is a General Pediatrician at Al Jalila Children’s. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, and completed her Pediatrics Residency at the University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Following residency training in the US, Dr. Deena returned home to Dubai and is committed to providing the highest quality of healthcare to the children of the United Arab Emirates. She believes in the personalised healthcare delivery model which serves the healthcare needs of individual patients and their families. Her goal is to create a positive experience towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing disease. She believes that the life-long relationships she builds with the families are the most rewarding part of her career. Dr. Deena’s professional interests include medical education and research. Prior to joining, she was a member of the paediatric residency selection committee at the University of South Alabama, and currently holds an active role in establishing the paediatric residency programme at Al Jalila Children’s. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at multiple conferences. She has a passion for community service and believes that every individual has a unique role in building the community and contributing to its advancement. Since high school, she has been actively involved in working towards empowering children and junior youth across different countries.

Dr. Ajay Dsouza is Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Al Jalila Children’s. He graduated from Mysore University in 2000, and completed Radiology Residency in 2005. He is also a Fellow of The Royal College of Radiologists, United Kingdom, and an active member of Society for Pediatric Radiology, Indian Society of Pediatric Radiology, and European Society of Radiology. Dr. Dsouza has a Fellowship from International Society of Quality in Healthcare (ISQua), Dublin. Quality improvement in imaging and patient safety, risk management in clinical practice, accreditation and performance metrics are his special interests. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Health Management from McMaster University, Canada. He aspires to be a healthcare leader in the future.

Sherin Kuttiankandy is an audiologist at Al Jalila Children’s with over eight years of experience in the field of audiology and specifically in the area of cochlear implantation in. As part of her work with children, she conducts paediatric hearing assessments and electrophysiological evaluations in addition to deciding upon the candidacy, pre, intra and post-operative audiological evaluation, switch on and mapping, counselling and rehabilitation of cochlear implant recipients. Sherin has been successful in integrating several hearing impaired children to schools and has helped cochlear implant recipients and their family lead normal lives. She also conducts awareness programmes for parents and teachers on understanding the difficulties of children with hearing loss, the need for quality communication, and prevention of hearing loss.

Sabine El-Deek is a Hanen Certified Speech and Language Therapist who has extensively worked with children affected by hearing disorders. As part of her work, Sabine carries out therapy sessions (individual and group), assessments and consultations for the deaf and hard of hearing (HH) children and devises appropriate therapy programmes. She provides guidance and recommendations to parents, teachers, and professionals involved in a child’s team about instructional techniques for auditory, speech and language development as well as highlighting individual patient needs.
