Al Jalila Children’s to Lead on a pioneering global Pediatric Patient Safety Initiative

Dubai, UAE – January [] 2018.  Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, the only children’s hospital in the United Arab Emirates, today announced that it is convening a global Pediatric Patient Safety Initiative – a pioneering initiative to bring together leading pediatric hospitals from around the world in support of a common goal of zero preventable child and adolescent deaths within hospitals by 2020.  The initiative was announced at Arab Health 2018 by Dr. Mohamed AlAwadhi, COO of Al Jalila Children’s, and is consistent with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that UAE institutions must play a leading role in global efforts in the healthcare arena.

Bougary, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Safety and wellbeing Committee Chair at Al Jalila Children’s said: “This initiative will be a platform for other pediatric hospitals across the world to share their knowledge and best practices about pediatric patient safety. Our aim is that the outcome will be a robust framework that will lead to achieving zero preventable child deaths by 2020.”
