Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, UAE’s only specialised children’s hospital, and Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic healthcare organisation, have launched the Al Jalila Children’s Fund. The partnership aims to collect funds from individual and corporate donations, and charity events, through www.aljalilachildrens.ae.
The Fund will exclusively support Al Jalila Children’s efforts to expand its offering of premium paediatric healthcare for children in the UAE and beyond. Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, COO Al Jalila Children’s, said: “Al Jalila Children’s was created under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a gift to the children in UAE and the region with the core objective of providing unparalleled standards of excellence in paediatric healthcare.”
“As a non-profit entity, Al Jalila Children’s is supported by generous donors and other external funding sources. Donations collected through the Al Jalila Children’s Fund will be directed toward the treatment of children in UAE and the region and in acquiring the latest cutting-edge medical equipment specially made for children. This is in addition to supporting our research centre in funding studies and researches of advanced medical treatments for critical illnesses in children,” Dr. Awadhi said.
Sulaiman Baharoun, Director of Partnerships and Sustainability, said: “Through our healthcare programmes, we sponsor some of the best medical treatment available and invest in pioneering research to combat diseases affecting mankind. At Al Jalila Foundation, we believe that health is the cornerstone to happiness and every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, dream, and realise their potential. Improving the health and well-being of children is a cause close to our hearts and we are proud to partner with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital to improve the lives of young patients.”
Al Jalila Foundation works closely with healthcare partners to develop special treatment programmes that meet the needs of patients, both adults and children, who are unable to afford quality treatment. To date, the Foundation has helped 190 children in the UAE with life-saving heart surgeries, treatment of childhood cancers, cochlear implants, and prosthetic limbs. These children were given a fresh start in life after receiving special care by some of the best medical providers and physicians in the region. The partnership with Al Jalila Children’s will ensure that more children are able to receive the treatment they desperately need.
As part of the agreement, all donations and proceeds of Al Jalila Children’s Fund will be collected by Al Jalila Foundation, the charity partner, and will be used exclusively for Al Jalila Children’s initiatives.
