The clinical rotation experience and supervision focuses on developing skills in diagnostic interviewing, case formulation, treatment planning, and psychotherapeutic and pharmacological management in the context of a strong knowledge base in child development, psychosocial factors, and familiarity with the function and organization of health, education, and community support organization.

The Al Jalila Children’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Programme is a two-years programme offered to fellow candidates and led by faculty dedicated to teaching, clinical care, and individual research pursuits. Strengths include supervision by full-time child and adolescent psychiatrists faculty, a dynamic educational programme, and a diverse clinical portfolio that reflects the expertise of varied mental health team members.

Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Children’s said that the “launch of the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship programme is testimony to the strides made by Al Jalila Children’s in a short span of time since its opening. The fellowship follows the commencement of the residency programme recently and we are committed to investing our efforts in education and research with the goal of enhancing paediatric healthcare in the UAE and the region. Our child and adolescent mental health centre of excellence is one of its kind in the Middle East and our aim is to be able to provide a training ground for mental health professionals who will in turn assist children requiring mental health support in this region and beyond.”

“We are proud to have partnered with Al Jalila Children’s, our clinical academic affiliates, once again to launch such a unique program shortly after launching Al Jalila Children’s pediatric residency program earlier this year. Our vision is to become a global hub for innovative and integrated healthcare education and research at the service of humanity, and one of the ways to achieve this is through valuable partnerships. We aim through such collaborative programs to open horizons for further specialization in alignment with the National Advanced Sciences Agenda 2031, which specifies the requirement of having a national scientific system that addresses health challenges in the UAE, as one of its eight priorities. We hope that offering such quality programs will contribute to the achievement of this priority,” said Dr. Amer Sharif, Vice Chancellor of MBRU.

Prof. Sulaiman AlEmran, Deputy General Secretary of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties said, “The collaboration between the Saudi Commission and MBRU has grown and matured in a short period of time, as a result we are now celebrating the launching of another postgraduate training program, namely Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Programme at Al Jalila Children’s hospital. The aim of the distinguished team which was behind this achievement is to adhere to the international standards and achieve an international reputation in providing an outstanding postgraduate educational experience”.
